Hurricane Bells

After touring to get Longwave’s fourth album, Secrets Are Sinister, frontman Steve Schiltz took time off to record a solo group of songs. The music was mellow, nocturnal, and atmospheric, a long way off from Longwave’s steamroller indie rock and roll. Functioning quickly, Schiltz documented the materials in his cellar — tugging triple responsibility as composer, musician, and audio engineer — and ready to discharge an record beneath the moniker Hurricane Bells. 8 weeks before the record’s scheduled discharge, though, “Monsters” made an appearance over the platinum-selling soundtrack to New Moon, the next installment of the favorite Twilight film series. The causing attention changed Hurricane Bells from a little side project right into a legitimate buzz music group, and Schiltz spent the majority of 2010 touring behind the group’s debut, Tonight May be the Ghost.
