Mixing washes of distorted guitar with lo-fi digital drums, soothing vocals, and Factory Records-style interplay, Wedding ceremony deliver a noise pop/shoegaze crossbreed whose levels of fuzz belie well-crafted pop that could stand alone. Made up of dual vocal/acoustic guitar/bass/drum machine players Paul Baker and John Fedowitz, the group increased through the ashes of Skywave in 2007 as its additional member, Oliver Ackermann, shifted from Fredericksburg, Virginia to NEW YORK and formed A LOCATION to Bury Strangers. While both spinoff organizations possess a penchant for noisy guitars — and Ceremony’s name may research Joy Department/New Purchase — Ceremony’s strategy uses your guitar results and rapid-fire drums like a basis for the duo’s thoughtful songcraft instead of an exploration of sonic shades and textures. The duo produced its documented debut in 2008 with full-length Disappear, layering fresh wave components amidst the sound, having a self-titled record pursuing in ’09 2009. For the 2010 full-length Rocket Open fire, the band continuing to provide feedback-laden hooks, produced more thrilling and immediate because of improved production ideals. The duo’s 2011 EP, basically titled Prolonged Play, re-imagined a small number of tracks from Rocket Open fire by using performers like Monster Film and Jessica Bailiff.
