Begushkin

Produced in Brooklyn by multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Dan Smith, Begushkin’s folk-influenced compositions echo the stark arrangements of Smog as well as the volatile imagery of Can Oldham or Flannery O’Connor. The group, which includes a little military of Smith’s close friends, including violinist Stephanie Rabbins, guitarist/bassist Stephan Ryskewitch, accordion and noticed participant Cynthia Hopkins, and percussionist Josh Saltzman, released the eight-track Nightly Factors in the Locust label in 2007.
