Rabo de Lagartixa

A choro group formed in Rio de Janeiro within the 1990s by Daniela Spielmann (soprano and alto saxes), Alessandro Valente (cavaquinho), Marcello Gonçalves (seven-string acoustic guitar), and Alexandre Brasil (acoustic/electric powered basses), the Rabo de Lagartixa launched its 1st album in 1998 using the involvement of Elza Soares and Pedro Luís e a Parede. The recording launched many choro originals along with other previously unpublished tracks such as for example “Carrapato” (João Lyra/Paulo César Pinheiro). The group, which mixes many contemporary rhythmic designs with a relatively jazzy method of the improvs, pulls its name through the regenerative feature from the gecko’s tail, hinting at choro’s success regardless of having less commercial curiosity from recording businesses along with other potential promoters from the genre. Having performed around Brazil, a display in the Clube perform Choro in Brasília (Federal government Area) deserves point out and in 2000; the Rabo participated within the Samba e Choro task in the Paço Imperial (Rio de Janeiro), once the double-CD 1O Compasso/Samba e Choro was documented.
