Devils Wielding Scimitars

Driven by the reduced, haunting, Natalie Merchant-like vocals of Suzy Callahan, Devils Wielding Scimitars possess crafted a combined mix of group improvisation and hook-laden melodies which they explain as “minimalistic psychedelic folk.” Created within the suburbs of Maryland, Devils Wielding Scimitars documented their 1st two albums — Interested Soul in 1989 and Worry Dolls in 1991 — like a quartet offering guitarist Scott Tyburski, bassist Michael Baker, drummer Brandon Finley, and Callahan on vocals. Their third recording, III, released in 1997, presented a reorganized group with fresh drummer Kevin Morales becoming a member of holdovers Tyburski on acoustic guitar and Callahan, who performed bass furthermore to singing.
