XAM Duo

XAM Duo initially began seeing that simply XAM, an shop for the electronic recordings of Hookworms member Matthew Benn. Motivated by the classic noises of Tangerine Wish, Kraftwerk, and various other electronic pioneers, beginning in 2014 he spent his downtime focusing on Hookworms music in 2014 and documented some monitors. The three-song EP Build System premiered in middle-2015 by Deep Length Records and eventually Benn was provided the opportunity to try out live shows. To capture the noises he was choosing — a variety of synths, drum devices, and live musical instruments like saxophone — he’d have to collaborate. For this period, Christopher Duffin from the music group Deadwall was documenting at MJ from the Hookworms Suburban House studio room, and after hearing that Duffin wished to broaden his musical horizons in a far more electronic path, MJ put both in contact. At their initial rehearsal, Benn and Duffin discovered these were kindred spirits musically and made a decision to interact, which resulted in the name transformation XAM Duo. In July of 2016, they released an improvised piece entitled Two Methods, and afterwards that season, their debut self-titled record hit the cabinets. It was documented by Benn and MJ at Suburban House, and much from the music was placed on tape your day of their 1st, completely improvised rehearsal.
