Waylon Payne

Nation singer/songwriter and professional Waylon Payne may be the boy of Jody Payne, a guitarist in Willie Nelson’s music group, and nation singer Sammi Smith; he was called after his godfather, Waylon Jennings. He started his career composing songs and using other music artists. Notably, he positioned “Elvis” and “Sing ‘Til I Prevent Crying” on Pat Green’s record Wave on Influx in 2003, also performing and playing electric guitar on the disk. He had currently finished documenting his own record, The Drifter, with out a label offer and was using Nelson in NY when Green recommended he play the record for Green’s label, Republic/General. Payne was agreed upon to the label, which released The Drifter on June 22, 2004. It enticed critical compliment and was tapped by various other artists for materials. Django Walker place “Her (She’s Eliminated)” on his record Six Trips All over the world, and “UNDERNEATH” was included in both Keith Gattis, manufacturer from the Drifter (on Big Town Blues, that Payne sang history vocals), and Charlie Robison (on MEMORIES). Payne, also an aspiring professional, was cast within the function of Jerry Lee Lewis within the Johnny Money biopic Walk the Range, which opened up in 2005. Payne’s appearance in the soundtrack record allowed him to talk about the Grammy Prize won with the disk. He was following cast within the starring function of Hank Garland within the 2006 biopic Crazy. CBuJ Entertainment reissued The Drifter on March 11, 2008.
