Village

Shaped in August 1968, Town was led by organist/vocalist Pete Bardens (b. Peter Bardens, 19 June 1945, Westminster, London, Britain, d. 22 January 2002, Malibu, California, USA), previously of Them as well as the Shotgun Express. Bruce Thomas (b. 14 August 1948, Middlesbrough, Cleveland, Britain; bass) and Expenses Porter (drums) finished the band’s line-up and having refused the chance to back again Tim Rose, released their career for the short-lived Head label with “Man WITHIN THE Moon”/”VERY LONG TIME Approaching”. Described by Bardens as “intensifying pop”, the trio’s ascribed vow of documenting purely self-penned materials proved premature because they split within months from the single’s launch. Bardens after that pursued a single profession before founding Camel, while Thomas resurfaced in Quiver and, later on, the Attractions who have been formed because the support group to Elvis Costello.
