The Wombles

Greatly popular for awhile within the U.K., the Wombles are animals whose whole objective would be to help tidy up the world, having their “tidy luggage” together wherever each goes, picking right up the garbage left out by human beings, and reusing it. Made in the past due ’60s by children’s reserve writer Elisabeth Berseford, the Wombles books captured on and had been translated into many languages. Within the ’70s, the furry, pointy snouted individuals after that became the superstar of their very own live-action (rather than cartoon) children’s tv series, and added music-making with their list of abilities. The show highlighted the music from the multi-talented composer and musician Mike Batt, who garnered his initial eight strike singles along with his Wombles’ music. With the quantity of Wombles music released in the ’70s — six albums and over twelve singles within the U.K., and an record and a small number of singles producing their method to Canada as well as the U.S. — compilations of Wombles materials have been regularly surfacing since, interesting collectors with several musical designs and catchy music, including “Keep in mind You’re a Womble,” and “Non End Wombling Summer months Party.” A number of the newer compilations consist of Columbia’s THE VERY BEST Wombles Album UP TO NOW, Vol. 1 (1998), as well as the Wombles Collection, a double-disc place released in 2000 on Dramatico.
