The Smugglers

Vancouver, BC garage-punk combo the Smugglers was formed in 1988 simply by singer Offer Lawrence in tandem with guitarists David Carswell and Nick Thomas; bassist Adam Woodall, and drummer Paul Preminger finished the initial lineup, which released their debut one “Along” in the small Nardwuar label in 1990. Bassist Beez changed Woodall for the 10″ At Marineland released the following calendar year, while Bryce Dunn assumed Preminger’s drumming responsibilities for the 1992 LP Atlanta Whiskey Flats. Within the Hall of Popularity appeared a calendar year afterwards, and in 1994, the Smugglers released some singles including “Tattoo Dave,” “Gotta Gotta Gotta,” and “Party…Party…Party…Pooper!” before shutting out the entire year using the full-length Moist Pants Club. Even more singles including “Whiplash!” and “Senor Pantsdown” additional extended the group’s prolific catalog, as the 1996 record Offering the Sizzle! was released being a joint discharge between Canadian indie Mint and its own American counterpart Lookout. 1998’s live work WE WERE YOUNG Smuggler famous the band’s tenth wedding anniversary, and was also the ultimate discharge to feature Dunn, who was simply changed by drummer Graham Watson for 2000’s Rosie.
