The Shape Shifters

THE FORM Shifters certainly are a LA alternative rap collective that emerged within the 1990s and inspired a cult following over time. The group’s full-length recording debut, Planet from the Styles (1998), premiered on cassette and put together different four- and eight-track recordings through the years 1993 through 1998; the recording was released like a double-disc Compact disc in 2000 by Nitrous Oxide Information. Planet from the Styles features unique group people Circus (created Marcus Aureli; rapper, maker, sampling), AWOL One (created Tony Martin; rapper), Radioinactive (given birth to Kamal Humphrey; rapper), Shumagorath (rapper), Real Jae L.A. (aka L.A. Jae; created John Barnes; maker, turntablist), Mr. Fung (aka Mek One; maker), Transducer (created Mike McMullen; maker), DJ Rob One (created Robert Cory; turntablist), and Nicko the Greek (keyboards) — a lot of whom continued to execute in other organizations (e.g., Former mate Vandalz, Stuffed Pets, Three Eyed Cowz) and adopt additional aliases.
