The Pine Hill Haints

Acquiring inspiration from origins music and Southern tales from the supernatural, the Pine Hill Haints perform a self-described design of “Alabama ghost country” that details upon honky tonk, rockabilly, folk, and bluegrass. As a kid, vocalist Jamie Hurdle often became a member of his grandfather in going to regional hootenannies, where he was subjected to the musical customs of his indigenous Alabama. Later, Hurdle honed his personal voice by performing inside a graveyard — the Pine Hill Cemetery — and created a raucous rockabilly clothing called the Wednesdays while still in primary college. The Wednesdays would continue to release many albums within the 2000s, but Hurdle nevertheless created the Pine Hill Haints in 1998 as another (and substantially different) task, piecing collectively a revolving lineup that eventually solidified around primary users Matt Bakula (washtub bass, banjo), Ben Rhyne (snare drum), and Jamie’s wife, Katie Hurdle (washboard, mandolin). The Pine Hill Haints released their first recordings (three full-lengths, a 12″ vinyl fabric, and several break up albums) on Barrier’s personal Arkam Information before attracting interest from K Information’ founder Calvin Johnson, who documented the band’s following launch — You Bury Your Hate inside a Shallow Grave — free of charge. The disc premiered on Portland’s LELP label, as was the band’s follow-up EP, Pine Hill Haints Meet up with Clampitt, Gaddis & Buck. As the Pine Hill Haints retreated back again to Arkam for 2005’s THOSE THAT Wander, these were subsequently found by K Information and released Ghost Dance, an eclectic record of 20 lo-fi music, in November 2007. Twelve months later, the music group retreated to Florence, Alabama, to record on the Dark Owl Trading Co. The causing record, To Gain or even to Lose, proclaimed the Haints’ second discharge for K Information in summer months 2009. The music group continuing their prolific streak, focusing on even more albums for K with 2011’s Thanks for visiting the Midnight Opry and 2014’s The Magik Noises from the Pine Hill Haints, alongside various lesser produces within the years between. Even more touring also ensued, including a tell you Japan planned for nov 2014.
