Having a debut unreleased album that presented users of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, TV on the air, L’Trimm, Calla, Mooney Suzuki, Oakley Hall, Antibalas, the Dap-Kings, Diamond Nights, Persephone’s Bees, Si*Sé, and Apollo Heights, gossips circulated quickly from your get-go the Phenomenal Handclap Band was a weighty endeavor, packed towards the rim with both talent and potential. THE BRAND NEW York collective was masterminded and created by Daniel Collás and Sean Marquand, two underground golf club DJs struck using the desire to create. They combined up beneath the name Embassy Audio Productions and got their chops behind the combining board producing songs for veteran spirit music artists Joe Bataan and União Dark. Those recordings garnered some interest, enough to provide Collás and Marquand the clout to gather an underground spirit/indie pop supergroup of types. Several sessions later on — and after deciding on a fresh name and developing a core band of players (Patrick Real wood, Luke O’Malley, Laura Marin, Bing Ji Ling, Pier Pappalardo, and Joan Tick) — several singles had been leaked to the web. Rooted in stylish, cool beats and groovy ’60s and ’70s tradition, the music grabbed the eye of Truth & Spirit, which released a 7″ one in Apr of 2009. A self-titled record soon followed in ’09 2009 for Friendly Fireplace, and the record was reissued this year 2010 by Stomach Touch. An recording of remixes (Remixes) of tracks from the recording came out this year 2010 as the Phenomenal Handclap Band’s recognition grew because of bloggers and their fun live display. After parting methods with Tick, the group documented its second recording, Type & Control, in the famous RAK Studios in London. It had been released by Belly Contact in early 2012.
