The Holy Mackerel

After singer/songwriter Paul Williams landed one of is own songs on the other hand of Tiny Tim’s hit single “Tip-Toe Through the Tulips,” he was approached by record producer Richard Perry with an offer to cut his own album. It had been a giant jump for Williams, who got just dropped his job in the White colored Whale label a yr earlier, a meeting that had remaining him distraught and sour within the music market. Apprehensive about heading it only, he produced a music group with ex-Jefferson Aircraft bassist Bob Harvey, guitarist George Hiller, flutist Cynthia Fitzpatrick, ex-Turtle drummer Don Murray, and Williams’ sibling Ralph on electric guitar. Dubbed the Holy Mackerel, the music group documented its psychedelic pop debut through the entire springtime of 1968. Prior to the record’s conclusion, Harvey still left and was changed by potential Elvis Presley bassist Jerry Scheff, and drummer Don Murray was changed by Michael Cannon. The record made an appearance in November of 1968 and despite being truly a Billboard newspaper “Particular Merit Find,” it proceeded to go nowhere as well as the Holy Mackerel known as it quits immediately after. Williams started his successful single career a calendar year later.
