The Four Most

Doo wop quartet the 4 Most formed in Newark, NJ, in 1958. Relating to Marv Goldberg’s profile on his R&B Content articles website, business lead Bobby Moore, tenor Ronald Mikes, baritone Charlie Chambers, and bass Bobby Frazier started harmonizing on road sides in the city’s Third Ward, with time shifting their practice space to the neighborhood Morton Street College. Faculty member Frank Fenner shortly agreed to provide as their supervisor, assisting the Four Many fall into line their initial high-profile gig starting for Chuck Berry on the Paterson Armory. The group also stated best honors at Harlem’s Apollo Theatre’s famous amateur talent display, and in the summertime of 1960 agreed upon to the neighborhood indie label Milo to cut their debut one, “The Air flow and I,” a cover of the 1954 pop strike for crooner Vic Damone. The record strike radio and retail that fall but produced minimal curiosity. Within weeks, the Four Many dissolved, with Moore signing up for Old Town Information doo wop work the Fiestas to record the one “YOU WILL BE My PARTNER.” In later 1961, he resurfaced using the Seg-Way label single work “Pinky,” implemented a year afterwards by the Ruler discharge “The Ginger Snap,” acknowledged to Small Bobby Moore. In 1963 the fledgling reissue label Relic released operations using a re-released “The Air flow and I” that fared greater than in its first incarnation. The ensuing interest motivated Moore and Bobby Frazier to regenerate the group, this time around executing as the Fourmost with siblings Lloyd and Sammy Williams. Illusion Records released the group’s comeback one, “Dance from the Property,” in 1964, implemented a year afterwards by “IT HAD BEEN a Rest” on D.W. (reissued in 1966 on Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller’s Crimson Parrot imprint). When the latter-day Fourmost divide, Moore resumed his single career, signing towards the Sue label as Bobby Lee in order to avoid dilemma with Chess Information take action Bobby Moore & the Tempo Aces. After years from the limelight, Moore became a member of the reconstituted Fiestas in 1996, and continuing touring using the group in to the next century.
