Carl Hultgren

As one fifty percent from the acclaimed Michigan space rock and roll duo Windy & Carl, Carl Hultgren began sculpting his personal spectral acoustic guitar drones with partner Windy Weber in the first ’90s, their dark and evocative albums heading on to impact the next era of astral travelers. The set, stationed in Dearborn, Michigan, several miles beyond Detroit, worked well ceaselessly on recordings, sporadic gigs, and their jointly possessed and managed record store Stormy Information, amassing a solid discography. While Weber ventured into documenting single materials with her spectacular 2008 outing I Hate People, Hultgren didn’t launch sounds from the duo until his 2014 single debut Tomorrow. Both albums had been released around the band’s Blue Flea imprint, and Tomorrow centered on Hultgren’s slow-burning exploration of acoustic guitar textures and styles of house, tranquility, and fresh beginnings.
