Wanting to explore an alternative aspect of his music interests apart from his famous band’s frenetic thrash steel, Overkill bassist D.D. Verni produced the Bronx Casket Co. in 1999 being a conduit expressing his darker, slower, goth rock-inspired songwriting. An extraordinary collection of rock veterans, including ex-Misfits vocalist Myke Hideous, guitarist Jack port Frost (Seven Witches, Metalium), key pad participant Charlie Calv, and drummer Tim Mallare (also Overkill) found his aid, as well as the band’s eponymous debut resembled a much less overbearing, even relaxing option to fellow New Yorkers Type O Detrimental. Their equally powerful sophomore release, Sugary Home Transylvania, implemented two years afterwards.
