The 4-Skins

As their name suggests, this London, Britain band comprised four skinheads, who specialised in vitriolic three-chord ‘yob-rock’. Their regular membership was liquid, including a minimum of four lead performers, with just Hoxton Tom (bass) still citizen between their 1st and second albums. Acquiring their musical short from outfits such as for example Sham 69, the Angelic Upstarts as well as the Cockney Rejects, these were a third era punk band greatly from the Oi! Movement, alongside fellow holidaymakers the Business. Having a blatantly patriotic picture, the band drawn National Front followers to their concert events, which sometimes erupted into full-scale riots. Lyrically they expounded on racism, law enforcement brutality and corrupt government authorities. However, musically these were not so exciting, becoming rigidly formularized and struggling to develop using their simplistic roots (fundamental punk spiced from the unusual foray into skinhead’s ‘additional’ music, ska). From an innovative standpoint, the music group had ground to some halt by 1983. Their fanbase continuing to contract plus they quickly faded into oblivion, although re-releases and compilations possess reminded a lot of their enduring road popularity.
