TALsounds

TALsounds may be the ambient single moniker of Chicago-based experimental designer Natalie Chami, who’s also an associate from the trio Great Willsmith, half from the duo l’éternèbre, and a co-founder from the Screaming Claws collective. Improvised using several synths and looping products, aswell as Chami’s personal vocals, her single material is a lot more relaxed and meditative than her use the frequently chaotic Great Willsmith, but there’s still a feeling of playfulness and pleasure to her music. Given birth to in Ontario, Chami 1st started using the name TALsounds in ’09 2009, and began performing displays around Chicago in 2011. Great Willsmith created in 2012 and instantly started touring, but Chami still performed single gigs, and opened up for artists like the Japanese group Mono and Chris Brokaw. Her debut single tape, Sky Encounter, was released by Records & Bolts in 2013. This is accompanied by a break up 7″ with Iron Galaxy and many additional tapes on Hausu Hill (the label work by both of her Great Willsmith bandmates), Tabs Out, and Bookend Recordings. TALsounds distributed phases with Dustin Wong, Marissa Nadler, Brain Over Mirrors, and several Hausu Mountain performers. In 2016, her Natal Host tape premiered in colaboration with the synth producer Moog. The recording was documented using the Moog Mom-32 synth, which is usually monophonic, unlike the polyphonic types she typically uses. Later on in the entire year, all three users of Great Willsmith concurrently released single tapes on Hausu Hill; TALsounds’ was entitled Lifter + Lighter. The next year, TALsounds produced its Compact disc and LP debut with Like Ill, released by Ba Da Bing Information.
