Surface to Air Missive

Neo-psychedelia crackerjack Surface area to Atmosphere Missive is a creation of bandleader Taylor Ross, formerly of indie digital outfit Dream Like. Ross documented the project’s eponymous debut in his hometown of Tallahassee, Florida, playing all of the tools himself. Despite breaking multiple bone fragments in an incident throughout a drum program, he could surface finish the record, a trippy mixture of Southern and experimental rock and roll. It had been released by Departing and Stones Toss in 2013. Growing to a music group of four for concert events, Surface to Atmosphere Missive resolved into warmer psych-pop for the follow-up, Third Missive, before relocating to Athens, Georgia. House of major impact Of Montreal, they backed Kevin Barnes’ group on tour in 2015. Another LP, A V, found its way to 2016, also on Departing.
