Named following a little, Hungarian-made motor unit scooter, Solex may be the task of Amsterdam-based record-shop owner and songwriter Elisabeth Esselink. Previously an associate of Dutch indie pop group Sonetic Veterinarian, Esselink wished to exhibit her musical concepts more totally; after purchasing an 8-monitor recorder and an antique sampler, Esselink started recording songs on her behalf very own. Combing the racks of her very own shop for kitschy information, Esselink got snippets of outdated records to create new types, creating her very own design of lo-fi techno-pop. Solex’s debut, Solex vs. the Hitmeister, arrived on Matador in 1998; GRAB followed a season afterwards. Low Kick and Hard Bop found its way to 2001, and 3 years afterwards, Solex resurfaced using the Laughing Share of Indie Rock and roll on Arena Rock and roll Documenting Co. Early in 2005, Within the Fishtank came. For her following record, Esselink teamed up with Jon Spencer and Cristina Martinez of Employer Hog, blending her sampling abilities using the duo’s brash vocals. Amsterdam Throwdown Ruler Street Showdown! found its way to 2010. On her behalf next task, Esselink and her collaborator Bart vehicle Poppel sailed through all 12 provinces of holland, recording with music artists at each end in addition to collecting sounds that could become sampling fodder.
