Philadelphia indie-pop quartet Panama was formed in 1997 by vocalist/songwriter Gram Richmond, who’d previously gigged around city billed while Meringue; adding previous Caterpillar guitarist Mike Lenert, onetime Moped/Sonny Sixkiller drummer Kara Lafty and bassist Tag, the group released their self-titled debut LP on Two Road Recordings in early 2000.
