Sebastian z. Felsztyna

Being a theorist and composer in Poland, Sebastian keeps an essential place. Several his compositions usually do not endure but the ones that do, like the motet “Alleluia advertisement Rorate cum prosa Ave Maria,” are one of the primary types of four-voice Polish configurations. He received his BA from Krakow College or university in 1509, became a priest in 1536 and released a discourse on cathedral music in 1543. Two various other writings released in 1517 and 1534 address Gregorian chant, composers, properties of music regarded as of a curing and moral character, and classifications of music influenced by Boethius. This content of these functions can be derivative but his dialogue regarding the many components of mensuration in “Opusculum musice mensuralis” demonstrates to become quite original.
