Salako

Starting like a bedroom documenting task, England’s Salako started casually in 1995, documenting in drummer Luke Barwell’s bedroom, with guitarists David Langdale and Wayne Waudby, drummer Luke Barwell, and friend Stu on bass. The band’s light, wistful audio appealed immediately to followers of worldwide indie pop. Barwell relocated to bass acoustic guitar in 1997, and Stu transformed to keyboards. Thomas Spencer became a member of the group on drums. The music group soon drew the eye of England’s Jeepster Information. After some unimpressive studio room sessions, Jeepster recognized that the bandmembers had been more adept in the home recordings, therefore the label financed a house studio room for the group. Their debut recording, the 20-tune Re-Inventing Punctuation, premiered in 1998 on Jeepster to blended reviews. The record, at the minimum, released the band’s quirky and offbeat sound to the people beyond their hometown of Hull, Britain.
