Safka

This folk rock duo comprises sisters Leilah (b. c.1974, USA) and Jeordie Schekeryk (b. c.1975, USA), the daughters of record producer Peter Schekeryk as well as the singer Melanie. The duo produced their debut on the particular age range of seven and eight, if they documented a edition of ‘Grandma, We Like You’, which became a Canadian chart strike in 1982. Afterwards they became support singers on the mom’s trips, billing themselves as the Melanoids. By enough time each got turned 20 that they had shaped Safka in Denver, Colorado, USA, the name extracted from their mom’s maiden name. Affected by 10, 000 Maniacs, Keeping track of Crows and Melissa Etheridge, their primary stock-in-trade can be close harmony performing. Though composing their own materials, their live models have revisited a lot of their mom’s best-known compositions, including ‘Place Down (Candles IN THE TORRENTIAL RAIN)’ and ‘Brand New Crucial’. After issuing a demonstration tape/cassette album at the start of the entire year, the duo travelled to European countries to get a three-month tour by the end of 1995 as support work to Melanie.
