Ruth Killius

Violist Ruth Killius, along with her spouse Thomas Zehetmair, is a co-founder from the Zehetmair Quartet, an ensemble which has won awards because of its recordings of Hartmann, Schumann, Hindemith, and Bartók. She and Zehetmair also perform like a duo so that as a trio with cellist Rosie Biss. Killius qualified under Ulrich Koch and Kim Kashkashian, and through the 1990s was primary violist for Camerata Bern. Since that time, she has made an appearance being a concerto soloist and, more often, being a chamber musician. She’s participated in premieres of functions by Elliott Carter and Brian Ferneyhough, and documented the music of Carter and of Isang Yun with Heinz Holliger and Thomas Demenga. In 2011 Killius and Zehetmair released Manto & Madrigals, an application of duos by Holliger, Bohuslav Martinu, Peter Maxwell Davies, and Johannes Nied.
