After childhood keyboard lessons with various teachers in Chicago, Rosalyn Tureck visited Juilliard to review using the famed Olga Samaroff. Though she experienced performed in recitals and concerts as a kid in Chicago, Tureck drawn particular interest with her NY debut soon after her graduation in 1935. More than the next a decade, she narrowed her repertoire, ultimately becoming most carefully from the music of J.S. Bach. After her Western debut in 1947, she started a successful worldwide career that ultimately required her to Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Israel. In the first 1960s she used the harpsichord and clavichord, although piano continued to be her primary automobile for overall performance; she also sometimes got the podium as conductor. In tandem using a well-regarded concert and documenting career, Tureck kept numerous teaching content as such establishments as Juilliard, Columbia College or university, and Oxford College or university; and published content and books on pedagogical and performance-related topics, especially with regards to the music of Bach.
