Ricky Allen

b. 6 January 1935, Nashville, Tennessee, USA. R&B vocalist Allen is an ideal exemplory case of an musician who recorded within the amalgam design known as soul-blues, but he do so in the first 60s, a long time before anybody provided that genre a name. It had been a style which was an unavoidable item of his history in both black church as well as the blues milieu. Allen began his performing in cathedral choirs in his indigenous Nashville, but after he transferred to Chicago in 1958, he immersed himself in the Western world Side blues picture. He began documenting for Mel London’s Age group label in 1961, and acquired a local strike with ‘You Better Become Sure’, an easy blues having a rock and roll ‘n’ roll experience. Allen produced a name for himself nationally in 1963 with ‘Lower You A-Loose’ (quantity 20 R&B), a convincing song where Allen’s riveting soul-blues vocals had been propelled by way of a wonderful organ-driven throbbing tempo. Before he retired through the scene in the first 70s, Allen got other local strikes with ‘It’s CHAOS I Inform You’ (1966) and ‘I Can’t Stand No Signifying’ (1967).
