Richard Bishop

Like a founding person in sunlight City Girls, experimental guitarist Richard Bishop have been established like a cult icon for just two years before issuing his first single album, Salvador Kali, on John Fahey’s Revenant label in 1998. With it, Bishop shown his penchant for absorbing and incorporating stylistic methods from all over the globe into his music, which continuing with an increase of rawness on his following two produces, Improvika (2004) and Fingering the Devil (2006), because of each album becoming completely improvised. Bishop came back to more organized compositions along with his 4th release, and following the loss of life of Sun Town Ladies’ percussionist Charles Gocher in 2007, his single function became his main focus. Bishop authorized with Drag Town and released Polytheistic Fragments in nov 2007. In 2008, he added the monitor “Corpuscle,” a dark piece with traditional Spanish designs inserted, to Wooden Electric guitar, a various-artists record that also showcased the acoustic functions of Jack port Rose, Steffen Basho-Junghans, and Tetuzi Akiyama. He came back to issuing his very own material using the Freak of Araby in ’09 2009, and performed on his sibling Alan’s (Alvarius B.) Bloodstream Operatives from the Barium Sunset in 2011. The single, LP-only Intermezzo made an appearance from Ideologic Body organ in 2012. Richard released a collaborative record, this time around with composer and audio sculptor W. David Oliphant, entitled Beyond All Flaws on Chodpa Mass media in 2013. Previously Extinct, by the energy trio Rangda (Bishop, guitarist Ben Chasny, and drummer Chris Corsano), premiered by Drag Town the same season. He and Alvarius B. released the co-billed UNLESS YOU ENJOY IT, Don’t! on Important in 2014. Bishop kicked off 2015 with two albums in 8 weeks: Road Tales (Kali) with Costs Orcutt made an appearance on Unrock in January, as well as the single Tangier Sessions premiered on Drag Town in Feb. Bishop’s penchant for duet recordings was illustrated once again on Ivory Tower, a collaborative work with avant axe slinger Ava Mendoza. It had been released in early 2016 by Unrock.
