Atlanta’s Brian Burton is Pelican Town. He documented his debut, The Chilling Impact, while still students at Emory School and released the somewhat more significant Rhode Island a year or two later. Playing, making, and documenting everything himself, Burton’s Pelican Town focuses on expansive, brooding instrumentals. Located in a hip-hop construction, the music pieces a moody, introspective build before branching out to explore a variety of designs and styles. Both Pelican Town albums, released separately by Burton, includes a desire for soundtrack and Burton’s music provides a lot of that meditative experience.
