Purveyors of what they contact “strange punk,” Nots certainly are a Memphis, Tennessee foursome who have construct fast, basic, aggressive music fortified with jagged electric guitar runs, atonal consumer electronics, and disorienting levels of reverb. Nots had been shaped in 2011 by guitarist Natalie Hoffmann and drummer Charlotte Watson; Hoffmann primarily served double responsibility with Nots and Ex-Cult prior to making Nots her primary musical dedication, while Watson was a veteran from the Manatees. Hoffmann and Watson originally performed out being a two-piece, but shortly extended to a trio by adding bassist Madison Farmer, whose réamounté included stints with String & the Gang and Toxie. Nots released their debut 7″ one, “Dust Crimson,” on Memphis’ celebrated garage-centric indie label Goner Information in Oct 2103. A little more than a season later, Nots lowered their initial full-length record, We Are Nots; by this time around, the band got grown right into a quartet, with Alexandra Eastburn on keyboards. In 2016, Nots shipped their second full-length record, Aesthetic; the LP released a fresh Nots lineup, with brand-new bassist Meredith Lones changing Madison Farmer.
