Mike Harney

Mike Harney continues to be a devoted follower and booster of Progressive Bluegrass and its own wealthy cousin, New Acoustic Music, for over ten years. He listens to music at least 4 or 5 hours a trip to both his house and workplace in Massachusetts and attends concerts as much as he can. His musical heroes? Banjo — Bela Fleck, Tony Trischka; dobro — Jerry Douglas; mandolin — Sam Bush, John Reischman; acoustic guitar — Tony Grain, Leo Kottke; tone of voice — Nanci Griffith, Tim O’Brian. By vocation, he’s a public protection software developer and programmer for Pamet Systems, Inc., and by avocation a global War II trip jacket pinup designer and U.S. 8th Atmosphere Force historian. Many of his paintings is seen in Hell-Bent for Leather (Nelson & Parsons), a brief history of flight coats, and he provides study assistance to additional aviation history writers. He also acts occasionally as an unbiased consultant and professional see for the FBI, the Division of Justice, as well as the Division of Defence Lawbreaker Investigative Services. Mike’s other passions include movies and cartoons from the thirties and forties, WWII-theme airshows, plane tickets in B-17 bombers (seven to day), pictures, journalism, The Larry Sanders Display, and Mystery Technology Theatre 3000.
