Mark Newman

Mark Newman was created in the Bronx. His initial musical motivation was hearing his dad play both music he understood on piano, “Core” and what he telephone calls “that well-known tune that folks play over the dark tips….” He was raised in NY, and after shifting to LA Newman examined with program guitarist Howard Roberts and Ted Greene, who composed Chord Chemistry and Contemporary Chord Progressions. His first musical influences had been the Beatles, the Moving Rocks, the Allman Brothers, Ry Cooder, Small Feat, Jimmy Nolen (the guitarist for Adam Dark brown), and Steve Cropper, amongst others.
