Mari Eggen

The original fiddle tunes of Norway have already been preserved through the virtuosic playing of Mari Eggen and her fiddle duo collaborator Helene Hoye. Their debut recording, Sprell Levande, including the Norwegian strike, “Lauvdansen” was known as “an excellent recording of fiddle duos used real soul and depth.” The child of the fiddler, Eggen started playing at age ten. After learning just as much as she could from your old fiddlers in her hometown of Gudbrandsdalen, she went to the institution of Folk Music Research in Rauland for just two years. In 1991, Eggan received a folk music quiz on Norway’s nationwide radio train station, NRK. THE NEXT 12 months, she became the 1st woman to earn the Country wide Folk Music Competition in Landskappleiken.
