Lorie

French singer Lorie, sometimes called the “French Britney Spears”, was among the early-2000s most commercially effective French pop performers prior to the American Idol-inspired Television show period. Delivered Laure Pester in 1982 in Le Plessis-Bouchard, Val-d’Oise, she was 18 when she auditioned for manufacturer Axel Brangeon and was agreed upon by him. She documented a demo that was turned down by all of the majors before she self-released it on the web and got 15,000 downloads in 8 weeks. Quickly thereafter she was agreed upon by Epic and released her debut record Près de Toi in 2001. A cheeky confection of light dance-pop within the vein of various other young female performers who have been sweeping the planet at that time (notably these Spears), it had been an instantaneous smash hit and finally proceeded to go triple-platinum in France, offering more than a million copies. The hastily created follow-up Tendrement, very much within the same vein, arrived the following season and was nearly as effective. 2004’s Attitudes got a relatively rockier sound, while 2005’s Rester la Même got a zouk impact. In 2007 she redefined her audio for a far more “mature” record, 2lor en Moi?, which includes been in comparison to Kylie Minogue’s post-comeback function. Following a four-year break where she focused on performing, including a stint being a Parisian model for the long-running U.S. cleaning soap opera The Youthful and the Restless, her 6th studio record Regarde-moi lowered in 2011, as well as the Latin-influenced Danse in 2012. She also released many live albums along with a best-of compilation. Though Lorie’s profession continued for more than a decade, it had been marked by gradually declining product sales as she was gradually eclipsed with the growing aftereffect of TV talent displays.
