Liquid Liquid

The minimalistic funk of New York’s Water Water consisted almost entirely of percussion grooves having a smattering of bass, plus congas, marimba, and the casual vocal thrown in. The quartet contains Scott Hartley (drums, percussion, speaking drum), Richard McGuire (bass, percussion, piano, acoustic guitar), Salvatore Principato (percussion, vocals), and Dennis Youthful (percussion, marimba, roto toms). The music group released three EPs during its presence — 1981’s Water Water and Successive Reflexes, and 1983’s Optimo. The second option contained the monitor “Cavern,” which became the foundation for Grandmaster Flash’s “White colored Lines (Don’t GET IT DONE).” In 1997, Grand Royal Information released a assortment of those three EPs, and also a 1982 overall performance, Live from Berkley Square.
