Kaito may be the most well-known alias of Berklee University of Music graduate Hiroshi Watanabe (aka Ruler Street, Nite Program, Oxygen Music Functions, Quadra, Tread, 32 Task), a Japan maker and DJ who spun in New York night clubs Twilo and Tunnel & Velocity, and held a residency in Conserve the Robots. As Kaito, Watanabe created tracks that the mind trust at Cologne’s Kompakt label dubbed nu-trance. Merging early-’90s trance components using the sensibilities of the deep house maker, Watanabe released a trio of Kaito 12″ singles during 2001 and 2002 before the full-length Unique Existence, a compilation of these songs with some added materials, in Sept 2002. An ambient release titled Unique Love adopted four months later on. Hundred Mil Light Years, the next proper Kaito recording, premiered in March 2006, and was trailed six month later on from the beat-less edition, Hundred Million Like Years. After he combined shows for the Japan-only AN INSTANT for the life span, he came back in Sept 2009 with Trust, and the next Apr with Trust Much less. Four years exceeded before the 4th proper Kaito recording, Before End of your time, which was released on Kompakt in Oct 2013.
