Johnny St. Cyr

An excellent rhythmic banjoist and guitarist, Johnny St. Cyr was a fresh Orleans pioneer who was simply greatly popular within the 1920s. Self-taught, St. Cyr experienced his personal trio dating back to 1905. He performed in New Orleans having a.J. Piron, the First-class, Olympia, and Tuxedo rings, along with Child Ory (when Ruler Oliver was the cornetist) furthermore to Destiny Marable’s riverboat music group. After shifting to Chicago in 1923, St. Cyr produced his place ever sold by documenting with Ruler Oliver, Jelly Move Morton, and Louis Armstrong (as an integral person in Armstrong’s Sizzling Five and Sizzling Seven) while carrying out nightly with Doc Cook’s Dreamland Orchestra. In 1930, he came back to New Orleans where he produced his living beyond music but nonetheless played with regional organizations (including with Paul Barbarin and Alphonse Picou). In 1955, St. Cyr relocated to LA and came back to music full-time, leading the TEENAGERS From New Orleans at Disneyland from 1961 until his loss of life in 1966.
