Jimmy Jones

A unique piano stylist (who occasionally played complex stop chords) and a masterful accompanist for singers, Jimmy Jones had his first essential job taking part in and saving with Stuff Smith (1943-1945). After dealing with J.C. Noticed (1946-1947), he was Sarah Vaughan’s pianist (1947-1952 and 1954-1958) having a two-year disease separating his two lengthy stints. Jones documented often through the entire 1950s, including “How Hi there the Fi” (1954) with Buck Clayton. He caused Duke Ellington around the 1963 display My People, followed Ella Fitzgerald (1967-1968), and had written for the studios. Furthermore to obscure schedules as a head for Program, HRS, Wax, Golf swing, and GNP, and periods with Stuff Smith, J.C. Noticed, Sarah Vaughan, and Fitzgerald, Jimmy Jones made an appearance being a sideman on recordings led by many golf swing all-stars, including Don Byas, Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, Johnny Hodges, Clark Terry, and Paul Gonsalves.
