Whenever a teenage Jason Reeves encountered the works of Bob Dylan and James Taylor, it tripped a string of events. First he started focusing on his personal songwriting, merging the classic vocalist/songwriter style with an increase of modern affects like Radiohead and Sufjan Stevens. Then dropped from college and relocated from his indigenous Iowa, eventually getting in California. The next person he fulfilled upon introduction was long term pop celebrity Colbie Caillat. Both strike it off instantly and it didn’t consider miss their friendship to carefully turn right into a songwriting collaboration, one which would create the building blocks for Caillat’s strike recording Coco. The tunes that weren’t reserved for Coco finished up on Reeves’ EP Hearts Are Magnets, which made an appearance in 2006 around the Dance Squirrel label. 2007’s citically acclaimed Wonderful Activities of Heartache helped Reeves printer ink a cope with Warner Bros. the next year.
