A top-flight really difficult bop and bebop bassist, Jamil Nasser also played blues and R&B and doubled in tuba. Nasser researched piano along with his mom, then started on bass at 16. He led the music group during his pupil times at Arkansas Condition College or university in the past due ’40s and early ’50s, after that performed bass and tuba within the Military. Nasser done electric powered bass with B.B. Ruler after his release in 1955 and 1956, after that moved to NY. He performed and documented with Phineas Newborn in 1956 and 1958, while dealing with Sonny Rollins. He toured European countries and North Africa with Idrees Sulieman in 1959, and documented with Lester Youthful in Paris. Nasser resided in Italy in 1961, after that returned another year and shaped a trio that he led until 1964. He proved helpful eight years with Ahmad Jamal through the middle-’60s until 1972, after that played regularly with Al Haig with the past due ’70s. Nasser do sessions in NY through the ’80s and ’90s, dealing with Clifford Jordan, amongst others. He documented no dates being a head, but could be heard on many early-’70s Jamal Compact disc reissues.
