Jaak Nikolaas Lemmens

A diversity of compositional genres were emitted through the pencil of Jaak Lemmens. He made up orchestral functions (symphonies), sacred vocal functions (Te Deum, motets), and several organ items. Having been affected by Bach (through his instructor Adolf Hesse who got researched with Forkel a previous college student of Bach’s), Lemmens helped to bring in Bach to France, improve the musical specifications from the Catholic chapel, and elevate the saddened artwork of organ building in Belgium. Alphonse Mailly, Alexandre Guimant and C.M. Widor had been his pupils who continuing this important function. Lemmens was most known for his pedal technique and insightful body organ registration. He previously researched the piano at Brussels Conservatory, the body organ with Girschner and structure with Fetis. By 1849 he was a teacher of body organ for the College or university. “Ecole d’orgue,” Lemmens’ research for the body organ, were utilized by many music conservatories.
