Implodes

Roomy and textural, Implodes have their very own make of exploratory, ambient psychedelia. The Chicago quartet, offering Ken Camden, Matt Jencik, Emily Elhaj, and Justin Rathell, crafts its atmospheric excursions with levels of reverb-drenched acoustic guitar, synthesizers, and ghosty vocals, with the many textures gathering like rainfall clouds that ultimately burst right into a sonic surprise of swirling and moody experimental rock and roll. The band produced its debut in ’09 2009 using the release of the self-titled cassette before issuing Dark Globe on Kranky in 2011. The greater moving and melodic Repeating Dream found its way to 2013.
