Ian Walker

b. Ian Adam Walker, 27 Apr 1948, Govanhill, Glasgow, Scotland. Walker began playing and performing through the early 60s within the Glasgow Folk Center, but took a rest from executing until 1975. In the past due 70s, he began writing and showing up at folk celebrations, nonetheless it was 1985 before he released Roses In Dec. Even so, from playing night clubs and celebrations he began to build-up a pursuing, and Flying Large, released on Fellside Information, was voted champion within the Folk and Nation Music category by the united kingdom Music Merchants Association. The recording contains some superb songs, like the name monitor, an anti-war music, which was motivated from the Falklands turmoil. Others, including ‘Hawks And Eagles Soar Like Doves’, have already been sung and documented from the McCalmans and Dick Gaughan, and ‘Sing Me A Music Mr Bloom’ from the Yetties and Bram Taylor. Since 1988, furthermore to solo looks, Walker spent some time working with fellow Glaswegian songwriter, Ian Bruce. In 1993 Walker documented with the original group Sétanta. The line-up presented Colin McAllister (b. Eire; vocals), Mike Barry (b. Scotland; fiddle), Jack port Bethel (b. Scotland; hammered dulcimer), Hunter McConnell (b. Scotland; acoustic guitar/vocals), and David Munro (b. Scotland; uillean pipes). A talented songwriter, having a refined line in sociable comment, Walker’s skill has a right to be even more widely known.
