After he kicked off his career as a celebration rapper hip to Chicago’s jump music scene, Nigel Holt evolved into HXLT, an act that was initially dubbed a “hipster rapper” before he became the first “post-punk vocalist” signed to Kanye West’s label GOOD Music. Originally referred to as Hollywood Holt when he performed party rap over jump music, he started to concentrate on his like of Poor Brains, the Clash, and post-punk and became the greater strange, much less b-boy Holt.
