Although heavier than most bands beneath the space rock banner, Poughkeepsie, NY’s Hopewell fits easily within the genre, playing interstellar guitar pop in addition to dreamy psychedelia. And even though bandleader Jason Russo (vocals, acoustic guitar) is an associate of Mercury Rev, Tranquility Rockets, as well as the Golden Crickets, Hopewell possess managed to preserve an entirely specific sound, with just the casual Rev impact seeping through.
