Describing their design as “songs for old souls,” Hoots and Hellmouth certainly are a Philadelphia-based root base music take action whose music includes the passion of alt-country as well as the rustic strengthen of acoustic folk, merging them with loping jam strap grooves. Sean Hoots and Andrew Grey (aka Hellmouth) had been both veterans from the Pa alternative rock picture when they started making music collectively in 2005 — Grey released an recording as an associate of Midiron Blast Shaft and Hoots spent five years using the group Pilot Around sunlight. Eager to move around in a different path, Hoots and Grey started writing songs collectively on the acoustic guitars, and began playing out like a duo. With time, close friends were taking part with Hoots and Hellmouth on-stage, and in a short time Rob Berliner on mandolin and Tom Celfo on upright bass (both previous users of Pilot Around sunlight) became a normal area of the display. After a discovery appearance in the 2006 Philadelphia Folk Event, the group founded a loyal pursuing in its hometown, and regular touring through the South gained the band a big group of fans there aswell. Hoots and Hellmouth got a cope with the WEA-distributed Mad Dragon Information label and in Apr 2007 they released their debut recording, simply known as Hoots and Hellmouth. Another recording from Mad Dragon, Holy Open up Secret, followed 2 yrs later in ’09 2009.
