Hi-tek

b. Tony Cottrell, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Although generally assumed to become in the east coast due to his association with leading underground label Rawkus Information, hip-hop maker Hi-Tek actually originates from Cincinnati, Ohio. He 1st increased to prominence through the early 90s, when many local Cincinnati makers/rappers required the youngster under their wing and demonstrated him the ropes. By 1992, he was dealing with up-and-coming Midwest rappers Feeling, collaborating within the monitor ‘Hustle WITHIN THE Part’. Through his use Feeling, Hi-Tek became friendly having a rapper who was simply also dealing with the clothing, Talib Kweli, leading to him creating a task for the Rawkus label by his fresh friend and Mos Def, 1998’s acclaimed Dark Celebrity. Hi-Tek and Kweli didn’t stop there, because they formed another group themselves, Representation Eternal, and released 2000’s Teach Of Idea (also on Rawkus). Hi-Tek continuing doing work for Rawkus through the early 00s as an in-house maker, accumulating a status for flexibility and dependability. He created albums for additional performers, including Blackalicious, TRAINING Clik, Brixx, Cormega, Skitz, Tha Eastsidaz, and Truth Hurts, in addition to tracks for film soundtracks like the Wash, How Large, and Brown Sugars. In 2001, he released his personal solo documenting, Hi-Teknology, which presented guest places by Dark Moon’s Buckshot, Common, Cormega adding vocals to his beats. His previous sparring companions Mos Def and Talib Kweli also presented as guests. Hi-Tek parted organization with Rawkus soon after the recording’s launch, and consequently spent period with MCA Information and Aftermath Entertainment. He released another single collection, Hi-Teknology 2: The Chip, in past due 2006. The record was originally designed for discharge on MCA but was totally reworked pursuing Hi-Tek’s departure in the label.
