Havalinas

The brainchild of ex-Rockats guitarist Tim Scott (b. Tim Scott McConnell), who released many solo information for Geffen Information in the first 80s. The Havalinas was shaped through the remnants of many high energy LA, California, USA-based electric guitar combos, and included Scott’s previous Rockats colleague Smutty Smith on bass, and drummer Charlie ‘Chalo’ Quintana drums. Disillusioned with rock and roll, the trio fused traditional folk musical instruments such as for example banjo, mandolin, flute and dobro, using a belligerent street-wise strategy, that also drew on affects as different as Woody Guthrie and Hank Williams. Released in 1990, their debut record, made by Don Gehman (R.E.M., John Mellencamp), was a shambolic, however riveting established that handled modern socio-political ills. Their Weapons N’Roses persona earned them few close friends for the folk scene.
