Giant Panda

Large Panda are an underground rap trio from LA affiliated with alternate rap icons People Beneath the Stairs. Made up of rapper/makers Newman (created Alex Newman in Seattle), Maanumental (Jamaan Mclaren; Seattle), and Chikaramanga (Chikara Kurahashi; Tokyo, Japan), the trio individually released the ’88 Remix (2002) 12″ EP before becoming a member of the steady of Tres Information, an unbiased rap label co-founded by Chikaramanga and folks Under the Stairways rapper/maker Thes One. In 2006 Large Panda released their full-length recording debut, Fly College Reunion, plus a group of 12″ EPs: With It, Super Soar, and T.K.O. The trio released its second recording, Electric Laser beam, on Tres Information in 2008.
